Patrick Murray, CFP®, ChFC®
Patrick has more than three decades of experience helping families and small businesses navigate complex tax situations. His career began in 1984 on the floor of the American Stock Exchange and later included work on the Fixed Income Trading Desk at Paine Webber. Since co-founding The Key Group in 1996, Patrick has focused on clear, reliable tax planning.
He is committed to providing trusted guidance, ensuring every client receives personalized attention. Patrick is based in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Colin Heafy
Colin co-founded The Key Group in 1996 and holds a degree in Economics from Villanova University. With more than 30 years of experience in finance, he has guided individuals and businesses through tax planning, preparation, and compliance with a steady, practical approach.
Earlier in his career, Colin served as Assistant Vice President of Investments at Paine Webber and worked with the New York Stock Exchange, Dean Witter Reynolds, and Drexel Burnham Lambert. His broad background in markets and compliance now supports his focus on clear, strategic tax solutions for clients.
Kyle Heafy, EA

Kyle achieved the Enrolled Agent (EA) designation and is a graduate of Villanova University. Before moving into finance and taxation, Kyle worked as an Account Executive at a high-tech, high-growth software company.
Today, he helps clients with year-round tax planning, accurate filing across states, and clear, calm responses to IRS notices. He also advises small businesses on cash-flow, practical reporting, and thoughtful decision-making.
Sean Beaton, EA
Sean earned his Master’s Degree with distinction from Keller Graduate School of Management in 2020. After a successful career in logistics, he shifted full-time into tax accounting, where he had already been working part-time since 2016. He joined Key Group in 2021 and now serves as Tax Manager.
As an Enrolled Agent, Sean is licensed to represent taxpayers before the IRS. He is also a CPA candidate, having completed the education and experience requirements toward licensure. Sean brings a disciplined, client-first approach to every return, with a focus on accuracy and responsiveness.
Sally Cowan
Sally is the backbone of the firm’s day-to-day operations. She ensures client communications, scheduling, and document processing all run smoothly. With a sharp eye for detail and a friendly, professional presence, she helps create a seamless client experience.
